Fever in Children: Quick Guide

A fever (100.4°F+/38°C+) signals your child’s immune system fighting infection. Most fevers are harmless and resolve in 2–3 days.

Seek Urgent Care If:

• Infant <3 months has ANY fever
• Fever >104°F (40°C) at any age
• Child has seizures, trouble breathing, rash, or won’t wake
• Signs of dehydration (no tears/urine 8+ hours)

At-Home Care:

• Keep them hydrated & lightly dressed
• Use acetaminophen/ibuprofen (if >6 months)
• Lukewarm sponge baths for comfort
• Rest is essential
